About L.J. Irving Demolition.

About Us.

At L.J. Irving Demolition, our humble roots ground us and inspire the reliable, straightforward services we provide.

L.J. Irving Demolition traces its beginnings back to the late 1970s in Napoleon, Ohio, when Lawrence Joseph Irving Jr. and his wife, Nelda Irving, started a small snow removal operation while still working full-time jobs. With dedication and hard work, the business quickly grew into a fleet of snowplow trucks. By 1988, the Irvings had gained momentum, so they officially founded L.J. Irving, committing full-time to the business and paving the way for a new family legacy.

The company expanded from snow removal into concrete work, becoming well known for quality driveways, curbing, and approaches. As their reputation for reliable work grew, so did their interest in demolition. They started small—tearing down houses, removing footers, and backfilling foundations—then moved on to larger projects like barns. Their big breakthrough came with school demolitions, which helped establish the demolition side of the business as a core focus. Through it all, Nelda played a key role behind the scenes, managing office operations, handling invoices, and answering phone calls.

L.J. Irving Demolition established itself as a family-owned and operated company with a mission to bring professionalism, precision, and pride to the demolition industry. From the beginning, the company distinguished itself through clean, well-organized job sites and a commitment to quality work. The company specializes in the demolition of structures ranging from 5,000 to 300,000 square feet and has successfully served clients across commercial, industrial, public, and private sectors. A reputation for integrity and reliability has earned L.J. Irving Demolition repeat business and long-standing client relationships.

Safety has always been a cornerstone of the company’s operations. All employees are OSHA-certified and trained in hazard recognition and construction site safety. The company also participates in the State of Ohio’s Drug-Free Safety Program, further reinforcing its commitment to safe and responsible work practices.

In 2014, the business transitioned to the second generation of family leadership: Martin Irving, Lawrence Joseph Irving III, and Anne Irving. The company has expanded its focus to specialty demolition, taking on more complex and technical projects while continuing to uphold the values of honesty, safety, and excellence. With Anne Irving in a leadership role, the company is proudly recognized as a certified woman-owned business and is EDGE certified through the State of Ohio.

L.J. Irving Demolition is now moving toward its third generation of leadership. Looking ahead, Logan Irving—son of Lawrence Joseph Irving III—is currently working as a heavy equipment operator and is actively involved in field operations. Kody Boehm, also part of the third generation, is an operator who is likewise deeply engaged in field work. Isaiah Irving, son of Anne and Martin Irving, is studying Construction Management at Bowling Green State University and plans to join the company upon graduation. The third generation brings a strong commitment to the company’s core values. They are exploring ways to expand the business, adopt modern technologies, and further strengthen L.J. Irving Demolition’s position in the industry, while maintaining the high standards that have defined the company for nearly 40 years.
